# Mitigating Vehicle Attacks on Crowds & Facilities Mobile Wedge Barriers
Posted on: Jun 13, 2023 9:00:00 AM by: Chase Tobin
ARX Perimeters’ mobile wedge barriers provide special events and towns with a secure crash-rated barricade to protect crowds from inadvertent or intentional vehicle attacks. You can also rent a mobile wedge barrier when a permanent barrier system is undergoing maintenance, during a barrier replacement project or when it is inoperable while you are waiting for repairs.
Every town, event organizer and police department that hosts events which require road closures will benefit from a crash rated mobile wedge barrier to mitigate vehicle threats.
## Mobile Vehicle Barriers for Protecting Crowds
Each event should have temporary protection measures against vehicle attacks for safer road closures. Unfortunately, most special events are unprotected by utilizing wooden barricades, jersey barriers, patrol vehicles or water filled barricades for road closures by Public Works. This leaves pedestrians and attendees of the event completely vulnerable and unsafe. Big and heavy alternative means of road closures does not equal stopping power. Crash rated mobile vehicle barriers are specifically designed to stop a vehicle within the shortest distance possible.
Another application for mobile wedge barriers is when you need to block off a property or road because of anticipated protests. You can also use ARX high-security fence system combined with [mobile wedge barriers](https://arxperimeters.com/products/mobile-wedge-barrier/) to deter and deny unauthorized people and vehicles from entering the secured area. This also applies to a common use of fencing and barriers for high profile court cases. We can secure the entire court house, parking area and provide a secure path for jurors to enter the facility.
Car dealerships and auto manufacturing facilities can benefit from mobile wedge barriers at multiple access points. Vehicle thefts of new and used vehicles are a frequent occurances, but they can be prevented if a mobile wedge barrier is installed in the right areas. ARX Perimeters has multiple documented cases of denying the theft of vehicles at these facilities.
## Renting a Mobile Wedge Barrier
You can rent mobile wedge barriers for a few days, a few months or for the long term – even as long as multiple years. They are perfect for special events or to provide a temporary access control point during construction projects.
We can provide a quote for a mobile barrier rental within a few hours of receiving a quote request. We have several storage depots across the United States so that we can deploy our crash-rated barriers quickly while keeping freight costs as low as possible.
When you contact ARX Perimeters to discuss your security needs, we’ll determine what size barrier best fits your needs and whether you need additional perimeter security systems. We’ll also work out a contract for the time you need the barrier, whether it is for a few days, months or years.
## Mobile Wedge Barrier Crash Rating and Specifications
The barriers from ARX Perimeters are certified to [ASTM crash certification standards](https://arxperimeters.com/arx-rentals/active-vehicle-barrier/). Our 12-foot clear opening barriers are rated to M30/P3. Our 16-foot and 20-foot opening barriers are rated to M40/P3. When you upgrade the 16-foot and 20-foot barriers with portable bollards, the crash rating increases to M50/P3.
Our barriers are typically set up and fully operational in 15 to 20 minutes. We have custom control cable lengths available depending on where you guard shack is located. The barriers require 110-volt / 20-amp power, but we do have solar power options available. Additional features include audible / visual warning alarms and access control integration. Our barriers are trailer mounted and towable.
## Contact ARX Perimeters
Whether you need one or multiple mobile wedge barriers while your permanent barrier is being repaired or you want to set up a barrier for a longer period of time, [contact ARX Perimeters](https://arxperimeters.com/) to discuss your requirements. We can come out and install just the barriers or additional fencing and other mobile barriers, as required, to keep your property secure.
