Popular Grants For Law Enforcement Agencies Security Solutions

Law Enforcement agencies across the nation are in need of specialized equipment for protecting and serving their communities.  This goes beyond firearms and body armor and into perimeter security solutions for special events.

Did you know that there are multiple private and public grants that are available for agencies to purchase mobile vehicle barriers?

Agencies apply for these grants in hopes to receive funding for their projects but the steps to get there can be costly and time consuming.  Finding the right grant for your project and agency, along with having someone write the grant proposal, are just two factors that agencies have to plan for.

If you’d like ARX Perimeters to help you get you through this process, at no cost to you, sign up for our Grant Assistance Program.

What are public vs private grants?

Public grants are funds offered from the federal, state, or other local governments. These grants are very popular and typically hold more funds than private.  Public grants typically require a lengthy application process, but approval times are usually set and held firmly.

Private grants are funds offered from private organizations.  The approval timelines are much faster than public grants but the dollar amounts are sometimes lower compared to public grants. The application process is typically shorter with less paperwork.

What are some popular public grants?

Every year, governments provide agencies with grants ranging from in the millions to the thousands of dollars.  Here we’ve listed some of the more popular federal grants:

Urban Area Security Initiative Program (UASI)

Grantor: United States Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency

The Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP) is one of three grant programs that constitute the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)/Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA’s) focus on enhancing the ability of state, local, tribal and territorial governments, as well as nonprofits, to prevent, protect against, respond to and recover from terrorist attacks.

These grant programs are part of a comprehensive set of measures authorized by Congress and implemented by DHS to help strengthen the nation’s communities against potential terrorist attacks.

The Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) program provides funding to enhance regional preparedness and capabilities in designated high-threat, high-density Urban Area efforts to build, sustain, and deliver the capabilities necessary to prevent, prepare for, protect against, and respond to acts of terrorism

State Homeland Security Program (SHSP)

A facility operator owns, leases, or operates any structure or facility of any kind located in, on, under, or adjacent to any waters subject to the jurisdiction of the United States.

Examples of facility operators include, but are not limited to terminal operators, ferry systems, bar/harbor pilots, and merchant’s exchanges.
